Roll Over Beethoven's is the original ROB venue, founded in Feb 2007 by Lazuli Pooraka and Gail Kilara. The story Laz tells is that he was trying to put a house together and was creating a gameroom and the thought occured that a pub would fit a pool table better than a house, and in partnership with Gail Kilara, Roll over Beethoven's (Rob's)was created. The name choice was a suggestion of Gail's, being of course a tribute to Chuck Berry's quintessential classic rock song, but also because the acronym ROB was soooooo perfect, so with Jenie Jacks in agreement, we were ROB! Over the next few weeks, playing only internet radio, the foundation of the "character" of Rob's was built. We always extended ourselves in friendship to any and all visitors. One of the things that helps make it unique was it's original "restricted" status on a PG sim. (Basically No Nudity, No Weapons)see SL-TOS

Located on the mainland sim Gemella, a PG sim, Roll Over Beethovens, very early became about the Folk! Our friends who would come to listen to Music and participate in the chat. Our very first DJ was Jocelyn Sands, followed by Summer Gulick, SongDog Wooley, Kat and Igor (Kat Bamasian & Igor Matova), and Kilmarac Drago. It was from this group of fine DJ's, the people kept coming for the music and the companionship. Enlisting the able assistance of our first club manager, Piper Werribee, who was very vampire like in her recruting schedule, very much responsible in making Rob group memberships grow impressively.

As the crowds grew as did our ability to attract music talent in the Classic Rock genre untill we found we could offer live DJ's every night of the week, which has become our standard. From time to time Roll Over Beethoven's has been host to a number of fun events, many of which you will find in our Photo Gallery. Examples include our Non-Human night, Thank You Gail party, Halloween 2007 (twice), Robstock 2008 along with many nights of impromptu events such as pajama parties, rez day parties, contests and special events. During this festive and growing period, Robs was in the capable hands of Shakira Meliv as our manager and DJ. Also in the summer of 2007, through additions in the Brauni Sim, additional venues were built to create the Rob family of music venues.

Some of our customers say that we are unique in Second Life. If so, it is the continuing support of the patrons, especially the Rob Rockers, that make it so. Lazuli Pooraka is aware he is simply a trustee of Robs, and that it belongs to the good people of Second life who have and will continue to come to call Roll Over Beethoven's their favorite Classic Rock Club.
